How the price is built
An order has two parts: a base fee for the test and a charge for each department job you apply to. Both differ by job type, so police, fire and dispatch tests are priced apart (test pricing, candidate FAQ).
- Add departments before you test. Until test day any department job can go in the order. After it, only jobs opened since your test can be added, at $15 each.
- A retest is a new purchase. The wait is 3 months, your old department list is deleted, and you pay the department charges again.
- Rescheduling and refunds: Fees are non-refundable; you can reschedule up to one week before the test. Skipping the session forfeits the fee.

Fee waivers and vouchers
The testing company runs a fee waiver program, but the department makes the call: you send the waiver form, it is forwarded, and the answer can take several weeks. A pending request does not extend your testing deadline (candidate FAQ). What departments publish:
- Aurora PD: a one-time paid voucher; scores earned with the voucher count only for Aurora's hiring process.
- Orlando PD: Free when OPD gives the test in Orlando; the NTN fee is not reimbursed.
- SFPD: hardship candidates can ask NTN to waive the fee before registering.
- LAPD: LAPD's own test is free, so a FrontLine score is optional there: it can stand in for the LAPD test.
Costs beyond the written test
- Practice tests: Ergometrics sells video practice tests separately. Optional: the testing company calls them not necessary to do well.
- Physical abilities test: booked in the same account; each attempt costs the same as the first.
- A missed session: no refund, and no rescheduling inside the last week.
The cheapest route
- Before you buy, check whether your department offers a voucher, an in-house session or a waiver.
- Put every department you might want in the first order. Later additions cost $15 each and only work for newly opened jobs.
- Prepare with free material, the practice test and study guide, so the first attempt counts: a retest restarts your department list.
- Reschedule early, never inside the final week.
